Reading:

Students are reading a fantasy book. They have studied the elements of fantasy: magic, evil vs. good, talking animals, mystical creatures, unreal places, etc.

They are also expected to recognize the plot diagram: Exposition (problem or initial conflict), Rising Action (problem develops), Climax (turning point of the story), Falling Action (problem gets solved), and Resolution (story ends).

Finally students have to look at the evidence throughout the story and draw powerful conclusions.
