• Students are reading a fantasy book. They have studied the elements of fantasy: magic, evil vs. good, talking animals, mystical creatures, unreal places, etc.
• They are also expected to recognize the plot diagram: Exposition (problem or initial conflict), Rising Action (problem develops), Climax (turning point of the story), Falling Action (problem gets solved), and Resolution (story ends).
• Finally students have to look at the evidence throughout the story and draw powerful conclusions.
